MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

The Women in Energy and Extractives Network (WEEN) is a non-profit company incorporated in September 2022 and launched in May 2023.

WEEN’s mission is to establish a platform that supports gender integration in the operations of the energy and extractives industry.

The Vision is to promote gender equity and diversity in the energy and extractives industry by empowering and supporting women to reach their full potential.

WEEN’s scope of coverage is Energy, Oil & Gas and Mining sectors.

The objects for which the Company is established are:

To strengthen women networks in the Energy and Extractives Sector.

To elevate the profile of women in the Energy and Extractives Sector and work to remove the barriers to women’s advancement.

To encourage and foster female leadership in the Energy and Extractives Sector.

d. To foster mentorship of women and young ladies in the Energy and Extractives Sector through business structuring and access to finance.

To enhance participation of women in the Energy and Extractives Sector though focused trainings, conferences, capacity buildings and mentorship.

To inspire and encourage women and young ladies to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and math; and,

To carry on any other activities as shall be determined by the directors with the approval of the shareholders and do all such other things as are incidental to or conducive to the attainment of those objects

I am delighted to present to you our 1st Newsletter for the Women in Energy and Extractives Network. This is an initiative inspired by our passion to keep our stakeholders informed and updated about what WEEN is doing to achieve transparency and accountability.
