The Women in Energy Students Forum

The Forum was focused on the students who were given insights into the Energy sector.

The Women in Energy Students Forum, a collaborative effort between WEEN and the American Association for Petroleum Geologists (AAPG), brought together industry leaders, professionals, and stakeholders to address critical issues facing women in the energy sector. The Forum was focused on the students who were given insights into the sector, challenges and how to navigate the male dominated industry. This ground-breaking Forum served as a platform for perceptive panel discussions, knowledge sharing, and networking opportunities, empowering women to thrive and excel in their careers.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between WEEN and AAPG was signed during the Women in Energy Students Forum, marking an important milestone. Dr. Michael Owor, Dean of the College of Natural Sciences at Makerere University, representing Dr. John Mary Kiberu, Patron of AAPG, and Ms. Ruth Murungi, President of AAPG Makerere University Student Chapter, represented AAPG during the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between WEEN and the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) Makerere University Student Chapter. Ms. Proscovia Nabbanja, CEO of UNOC & Board of Trustees Member; Ms. Emilly Nakamya, President; and Ms. Haawa Bukenya, Secretary-General, represented WEEN.

This MoU solidifies our commitment to advancing the role of women in the energy industry through collaborative initiatives, knowledge exchange, and capacity building. Together, WEEN and AAPG will work together to bridge the gap from classroom to the boardroom, and supporting the transition of more females into the sector.
